Women’s Health

What We Do:

Health is more than the absence of disease. This is the principle that embodies the essence of what we do. We do not treat disease, but we identify the underlying causes of malfunction and foster a state of health within the body. Through our extensive intake, nutritional evaluation and diagnostic testing, we uncover the underlying cause of disease and ill health to uncover what is hindering health and bring the body back to a state of ease and wellness.

The body experiences metabolic changes that lead it away from optimal health and toward illness. During the early stages of this decline, conventional testing results will be “normal,” even though detrimental changes are evolving just below the surface. We uncover these subtle changes, and restore crucial body systems to foster peak health.

Why It Is Needed:

Problems exist before symptoms appear. We offer a way of looking at the physiological processes of each individual person to discover weaknesses, deficiencies, and infections before they develop into a pathological process. Those problems can be detected, nutritional support can be given to assist the body, and re-testing can be done to monitor how well the treatment is working.

What To Expect:

First, we will determine your Metabolic Type. From there, food sensitivity, adrenal, hormonal, immune, detoxification and digestive status will be evaluated.

We begin with nutrition because food is the most powerful “drug” on this earth. You eat it several times a day, every day of your life. It contains hundreds of compounds that your body uses as its fuel for life. Your food can be your medicine or your poison. It has the power to heal. But it also has the power to make you ill if you eat foods that are wrong for you.

What is Metabolic Typing®

It is a custom nutrition program that is designed specifically for each individual. “One Size Fits All Diets” do not work. Your body responds uniquely to food based on genetics, biochemical makeup, family history and your own interaction with the environment.

“One Man’s Food is Another’s Poison.” Metabolic Typing® is derived from scientific methods developed from studying the major body control systems. These systems have been researched and have progressed over the past 70 years to our present program created by Bill Wolcott.

There are major factors that determine your Metabolic Type® as well as which factor plays a more dominant role.

-Autonomic Nervous System (ANS). Parasympathetic nervous system which slows down your body or the Sympathetic nervous system which speeds things up.

-Oxidation Rate. The rate of which cells convert food into energy.

“The Best solutions usually are the simplest.” Once you know your Metabolic Type® you will begin to choose foods that move you away from weight issues and disease towards optimal health and boundless energy, without cravings or endless yo-yo dieting.

Metabolic Typing® puts an end to the confusion about what diet is for you. When you begin to eat right for your type, your metabolism will move towards balance. As you do that, your body will be producing energy more efficiently from foods that you depend on for your body’s fuel. You will begin to experience: peaceful energy, relaxed alertness, emotional poise, positive state of mind and greater mental clarity.

Functional Tests

MRT Test (blood)

Mediator Release Test (MRT) is a food sensitivity test used to uncover and eliminate foods that are causing an immune response. Literature clearly shows that food hypersensitivity plays an important role in many chronic health problems. In our mission to uncover underlying causes of ill health we often need to identify foods that are causing reactions within the body.

The patented MRT is an accurate “End-Point” blood test. It indirectly measures mediator release through precise measurement of changes to the liquid/solids ratio of a blood sample after whole blood has been incubated with an individual food, additive, or chemical. Studies have shown MRT to be the most accurate in vitro test available for food sensitivity reactions.

Adrenal Testing (saliva)

The Functional Adrenal Stress Profile is a non-invasive saliva test that clients do at home. Seven hormone markers are measured that tell us how well your body is handling stress, and how well it rests and repairs.

Abnormal adrenal rhythm can negatively influence energy production; immune system health; skin regeneration; muscle and joint function; bone health; sleep quality; and liver, pancreas and thyroid function.

Adrenal dysfunction may be associated with the following symptoms: excessive fatigue; chronic stress and related health problems; dizziness upon standing; weakness; hypoglycemia; nervousness; irritability; depression; inability to concentrate; confusion; poor memory; low blood pressure; insomnia; premenstrual tension; sweet cravings; headaches; alcohol intolerance; excessive hunger; alternating diarrhea and constipation; poor resistance to infection; food and allergies; indigestion; migraine headaches; low body temperature; and diminished sex drive.

Metabolic Assessment Profile (urine)

The Metabolic Assessment Profile involves the analysis of two urine samples easily collected by the patient at home. This profile provides an index of general digestive metabolism by assessing protein digestion, oxidative damage caused by free radical activity, and bile acid sulfates, a direct measurement of liver function.

This profile provides data relevant to a multitude of health disorders. Its findings are applicable in treating existing health concerns and in counseling for nutritionally based wellness and anti-aging programs. The three lab tests assess protein digestion, oxidative stress, and liver function. The Metabolic Assessment Profile is designed as a foundational element in a comprehensive health evaluation.
An Intestinal Barrier screen is done to determine the health of the digestive system. The lining of the gastrointestinal tract from the mouth to the anus is covered by an intestinal barrier. This barrier provides our first line immune defense against pathogens and other disease causing agents. A healthy intestinal barrier contains sufficient antibodies and responds normally to foreign particles and invaders and deals with them appropriately.

Gastro Intestinal Testing (stool)

We do many Gastro Intestinal Profiles. The most common are non-invasive stool tests that clients do at home. Optimal intestinal health is a prerequisite for most body physiology. The functions of digestion and absorption are so fundamental to the maintenance of homeostasis in metabolism that every physiological process is ultimately dependent upon digestive function and process. Suboptimal digestive function can be either a basic cause of or a substantial contributor to a variety of disorders, some of which may have seemingly little or no obvious clinical correlation to intestinal physiology. This reliable intestinal microflora screen documents parasitic and pathogenic involvement that can interfere with normal gastrointestinal function and develop into a pathological condition.

Conditions that may be assessed include suspected parasitic or pathogen infection, maldigestion, malabsorption and pathologies caused by infectious agents.

Acupuncture

The classical Chinese explanation is that channels of energy run in regular patterns through the body and over its surface. These energy channels, called meridians, are like rivers flowing through the body to irrigate and nourish the tissues. An obstruction in the movement of these energy rivers is like a dam that backs up in others.

The meridians can be influenced by needling the acupuncture points. The acupuncture needles unblock the obstructions at the dams, and reestablish the regular flow through the meridians. Acupuncture treatments can therefore help the body’s internal organs to correct imbalances in their digestion, absorption, and energy production activities, and in the circulation of their energy through the meridians.

The modern scientific explanation is that needling the acupuncture points stimulates the nervous system to release chemicals in the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. These chemicals will either change the experience of pain, or they will trigger the release of other chemicals and hormones which influence the body’s own internal regulating system.

The improved energy and biochemical balance produced by acupuncture results in stimulating the body’s natural healing abilities, and in promoting physical and emotional well-being.
